HOW DO I START LIVING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE?

Do you believe that a healthy lifestyle can improve your feelings and keep you more productive during the day? Here are important steps that you can adopt to start living a healthy lifestyle:

Add vegetables and fruits to your diet

Adding veggies and fruits to your diet is a perfect start to a healthy lifestyle. Fruits and leafy green vegetables are rich in nutrients such as antioxidants and vitamins. Both nutrients are immune system boosters and help fight off toxins that cause diseases. Antioxidants improve eye health, promotes the health of your skin, and your overall health. The World Health Organization advises that everyone eats vegetables and fruits regularly so that you will be better fortified to fight diseases, some cancers, and heart disease. Ensure that you eat between five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Of course, they should be varied.

Drink enough water

One important health improvement tip that most people tend to overlook is the importance of water. A generous intake of water each day can go great lengths to improve your general health and well-being. Water flushes toxins from your body, improves brain function, energizes your muscles, regulates weight gain, and helps create a balance of body fluids and temperature. You should take up to 8 glasses of clean water every day. 8 glasses of water is equivalent to 64 ounces per day.

Manage your mental health with great care

Your mental health is very important, just like your physical health. You see, we humans tend to concentrate more on our physical health while neglecting the mental upkeep. But the fact remains that mental health is the foundation of our general health. Without perfect mental health, it is near impossible to live a hitch-free life each day. And that’s why you should assess and manage your feelings daily. If you have a negative feeling towards others, you may not experience much happiness at school, in your workplace, or your social life as a whole. The following are important ways to give your mental health a boost:

  • Regular exercise
  • Spend time in the company of your loved ones
  • Have adequate sleep. 7-9 hours each night will keep you running smoothly the following day.
  • Engage yourself in creative activities
  • You could register and belong to a social club.

If you have consistent feelings of unhappiness or depression, then schedule a consultation with your doctor or talk to a mental health professional.

Take out time to de-stress

Chronic stress is a killer, you know. So, you should always take out time to relax and de-stress. De-stressing boosts your mental and physical health. Try out some relaxing and fun activities like reading, listening to music, watching a comedy skit or doing fun exercises. These are activities that will help you unwind while filling you with calm and happiness.

Never underestimate the importance of exercise

It is always said that the human body is the temple of the soul. Indeed, it is, and it wouldn’t be nice to have that temple crash to illnesses. With regular exercise, you can stimulate your health. Exercise also improves longevity. Try exercising at least three times weekly. According to the American Heart Association, humans should exercise for up to 150 minutes each week. This translates to an hour three times per week. There is no set time for exercising. Pick a time that is convenient for you. You may do 30 minutes in the morning to warm you up for the day.

Your workouts should be fun, never boring. It shouldn’t feel like a chore. Examples of fun activities are:

  • Yoga
  • Dancing
  • Hiking
  • Aerobics
  • Running 

With these tips, you are on your way to starting a healthy lifestyle.
